Operational Strategic Initiatives (OSI) is a campus-wide consulting and facilitation team housed within the Vice Chancellor – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) area at UC San Diego. We help university teams work more effectively—bringing clarity, strategy, and momentum to complex projects and day-to-day operations.

What We Do
We partner with UC San Diego departments, divisions, and initiatives to solve problems, streamline processes, and align people around shared goals. Our approach combines deep institutional knowledge with practical tools and facilitation expertise to help teams work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively.

Our Place at UC San Digeo
OSI is part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration (VCFA), a division dedicated to enabling the university’s mission through effective stewardship and service. As a cross-functional partner, OSI supports VCFA’s goals while working across academic, administrative, and research units to promote operational excellence throughout the institution
