OSI and Artificial Intelligence

The Office of Operational Strategic Initiatives (OSI) and IT Services (ITS) at UC San Diego are collaborating to bring the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to teams across campus. By leveraging AI technologies, we aim to streamline administrative functions, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience.

How to Get Started with AI

If you're interested in exploring AI for your team, here's how to get started:

  1. Explore AI resources: OSI has developed an asynchronous AI Module which is available for all staff. We have begun introducing AI themes in our Yellow Belt, and we are also developing hands-on practice sessions to partner with our LSS content.  You may even be eligible to beta test the campus's new AI tool: TritonGPT.
  2. Prepare your teams: OSI can lead a 2-4 hour discussion with your teams to discuss the current AI landscape, learn about recent developments with AI at UCSD, and explore how it can be a useful tool with processes in your area. Contact us to learn more.
  3. Build skillsets: The key to a successful automation or AI implementation will be a measured understanding of our current state processes.  To sharpen our skills, staff can participate in our Lean Six Sigma training or leverage our institutional process mapping tool: Promapp.
  4. Request a process review: Contact us to discuss your process improvement needs and learn how AI can help. We'll work with you to assess your requirements and identify potential AI solutions.

 

TritonGPT

OSI has been supporting the rollout of the ITS developed AI tool: TritonGPT.  We have partnered with early users to begin training the model, supported communication strategies regarding the rollout, and developed resources to prepare the campus for using the tool.  Access to TritonGPT is being delivered in phases through April 2024.  If you are interested in accessing the tool sooner, please follow the process outlined below, also hyperlinked here.
